About the Guide

Morgan Wilkinson
Morgan Wilkinson grew up in Clarkdale, AZ and moved to California in 2000 to attend California State University at Monterey Bay, which he graduated from in 2004 with a degree in Earth Science.  He has spent much of his time in the Sierra Nevada since then.  Besides backpacking, hiking, and running on his won, Morgan has taught fourth graders about the gold rush outside of Grass Valley and has studied mountain yellow-legged frogs and cutthroat trout in the eastern Sierra with California's Department of Fish and Game.  Morgan has studied bison migration patterns in Yellowstone National Park and volunteered at a captive wolf refuge in southern Colorado.  In 2002, he spent the fall with the National Outdoor Leadership School backpacking, mountaineering, and kayaking in Patagonia.  He is a certified Wilderness First Responder and very interested in the wildflowers and conifer forests of the Sierra Nevada.  Morgan has working as the naturalist at Montecito Lake Resort since June of 2005, teaching groups about Sierra forests, wildflowers, geology and ecology on foot, snowshoe, and ski.
