Introduction to Backpacking Course Description
Learn from an expert to travel safely and responsibly in remote setting.
This is a great way to learn the principles of backpacking and enjoy the western
slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Designed for those with little
to no backcountry experience, we will be teaching technical backpacking
principles and ethical and moral standards in wilderness settings. We will
also be learning about the local wildflowers ecology, and geology while we have
a good time in the mountains! Space is limited to the first 12
participants, so sign up early.
Montecito Lake Resort will supply all food, cooking gear,
shelter, fist aid, and water treatment systems. Some items on
the gear checklist that participants do not have can be rented from
Montecito Lake with advance notice.
