Rae Lakes & The High Sierra Course Description
This is one of the most scenic backcountry trips in Kings Canyon National Park.
We will start in the bottom of Kings Canyon with towering peaks above us, work
our way up to the high country and join the John Muir Trail. We will pass
by mountain lakes of all sizes, climb over Glen Pass at 11,978 feet, view the
Kearsarge Pinnacles, the Kings-Kern Divide, the East and West Vidette, and
return to Roads End on the valley floor via Bubbs Creek. This trip is
designed for those with prior backpacking experience who would like to begin
backpacking for greater lengths of time in more remote areas. Space is
limited to the first 10 participants, so sign up early.
Montecito Lake Resort will supply all food, cooking gear,
shelter, fist aid, and water treatment systems. Some items on
the gear checklist that participants do not have can be rented from
Montecito Lake with advance notice.
